New psychotherapeutic counselling for young people
We’re delighted to announce that we’re now offering young people aged 12-25-years a psychotherapeutic counselling service that can help target emotional problems. Having spent the past few years becoming more trauma-informed as an organisation, we decided this progression to offering therapy made sense and could enhance our work with vulnerable young people.
Our director, Jeff Dawson, will be delivering this service having completed a Diploma in Counselling Teenagers through the Institute for the Arts in Therapy and Education and becoming a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
The counselling sessions will be undertaken on a 1-to-1 basis and can be delivered in a private space in Saltash, Cornwall or at a young person’s school or college. Online sessions will also be available should it be required.
Counselling can change lives
Jeff said: “Having been through the training and my own personal counselling journey, I know the power of this type of therapy and know that counselling can change lives. I feel privileged to be able to now offer this opportunity to young people in Plymouth, east Cornwall, the South Hams and parts of Devon.
”As an organisation we are always looking for ways to improve our services and offerings to our clients. Having worked with young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) problems, I realised I was limited in being able to support them as I desired. The training through the Institute for the Arts in Therapy and Education has taught me so much and I now feel better equipped to help young people tackle some of the problems they are facing.”
