Transforming Bull point Barracks

A New Community Hub for Barne Barton
In 2019, The Pioneers Project CIC entered into a lease agreement with LiveWest housing association to redevelop Bull Point Barracks in Barne Barton. Our vision is to transform this historically significant site into a vibrant community hub that addresses the pressing needs of Barne Barton’s residents while celebrating its rich heritage.
A Heritage Site with a New Community Purpose
Bull Point Barracks is not just a site of historical importance; it is a cornerstone of British military heritage. Built in the mid-19th century, it stands as a testament to the architectural brilliance and military innovations of the time. As a Grade II listed site, Bull Point Barracks offers a unique opportunity to preserve history while meeting modern community needs.
Our Vision
Our goal is to create a thriving, inclusive community hub that empowers local residents, celebrates heritage, and fosters a culture of health, wellbeing, and lifelong learning. We aim to:
– Promote Health and Wellbeing: Establish facilities and programs that support both physical and mental health for all age groups.
– Enhance Community Engagement: Foster a sense of belonging and pride through participatory activities and events.
– Preserve Heritage: Celebrate the site’s historical significance with dedicated spaces and programs.
– Boost Economic Empowerment: Provide training, education, and employment pathways to strengthen local economic resilience.
– Ensure Sustainability: Operate the site with minimal environmental impact, incorporating green technologies and practices.
Proposed community Facilities and Services
The redevelopment will feature modern, inclusive facilities that respect the site’s historic character, including:
– Community Café and Soft Play Area: A welcoming space for social interactions, community events, and family engagement.
– Health and Wellbeing Centre: Multi-room facilities offering programs tailored to physical and mental health.
– Youth Zone and Alternative Education: Safe spaces for recreation, learning, and personal development for young people.
– Heritage Exhibition: Interactive displays showcasing the history of Bull Point Barracks.
– Flexible Multi-Use Spaces: Adaptable rooms for meetings, training sessions, and cultural activities.
